Installing the Sharp MX-PEX2 (Fiery) PostScript PPD driver for MAC

Models: MX-PEX2 (Fiery controller) on MX3500N, MX3501N, MX4501N, MX5500N, MX6200N, MX7000N, MX6201N, MX7001N

Operating System: Macintosh OS X 10.2.8, 10.3.3 - 10.3.9, 10.4 - 10.4.11, 10.5 - 10.5.8, 10.6.x


Note: The printer driver may be obtained from: http://lesolson.com/support/drivers-and-software/sharp/  The Fiery update file is included and necessary to be ran for Mac OSX 10.6.x. This will allow the account codes and color sections to appear (OSX 10.6.x).


For OS X 10.6.x operating systems without Fiery drivers:

1. Install the print driver (if prompted to install Rosetta please do so, process is automatic)

1a.If Rosetta installation was necessary, please relaunch the print driver installer once Rosetta completes.

2. Install the OS X 10.6 driver update (Fiery Print Driver update for OS X v10.6.app)

3. Install the printer using the Print & Fax applet in System Preferences

Please run the Driver Update from step 2 each time after installing any Fiery print drivers.


For OS X 10.6.x operating systems with existing Fiery drivers:

1. Delete the existing printer in the Print & Fax applet in System Preferences.

2. Delete the 4 Fiery plugins:

In Finder, click on the HD > Library > Printers > Sharp > PDE’s > delete the following plugins

EFNA2A22 (CW).plugin

EFNA2A22 (FJN).plugin

EFNA2A22 (IS).plugin

EFNA2A22 (PINFO).plugin

3. Delete the PPD, Use Finder, click on the HD > Library > Printers > PPD’s > Contents > Resources > en.lproj > delete any MX-PEX2 file

4. Install the print driver (if prompted to install Rosetta please do so, process is automatic)

4a.If Rosetta installation was necessary, please relaunch the print driver installer once Rosetta completes.

5. Install the OS X 10.6 driver update (Fiery Print Driver update for OS X v10.6.app)

6. Install the printer using the Print & Fax applet in System Preferences


Notes:

Each time after installing any Fiery print drivers (using the Print & Fax applet in System Preferences) , run the Driver Update.

If you experience difficulties from screen layout / refresh in the advanced printer feature submenus, consider using printer presets for better experience.

If you are unable to select advanced printer features and they are crossed out with a line, please close the application and reopen it in 32 bit compatibility mode (see image below) or the attached PDF for more detailed information.
